Friday! Hooray!

Hello out there!

It’s Friday. Great news. Work is fun today, lot of interesting stuff on my desk, and nothing I have no clue about. Went to have dinner with my classmate Tatjana yesterday - a nice distraction apart from work-home-sleep-work-home-sleep…..

Christine seems to be still doing mighty fine in Chicago at GCD (click! ), they really get here involved over there - telco’s, client meetings, going to court, all the good stuff. I hate her for having a Blackberry there, that even hits me worse than her having half of a secretary and a single office on 33rd floor. Well, I’m a geek and I can’t help it.

Bad thing: It just started to pour like F* and I am to drive over to Münster tonight. Free car wash, though.

Good thing: Monday in a week I’ll be in Atlanta, seeing Christine again and hitting the road! Yeeeha!

Cheers Flo

hot and expensive Hamburg

Hey folks,

take this advice: If you are German, never, never, never, never lose your driver’s license. It is so damn expensive! 65 EUR that is. If you want it sooner than in four weeks, add 24,50 EUR for express shipping. In my case, add 25 EUR for the taxi ride, as the office where you can get that done here in Hamburg is way out of the city. To complete the calculation, substract 1 hour and add incredible heat at noon. Now you pretty much know what my lunch break (that was not my lunch break) looked like today.

Apart from that, I am in a good mood today. My business trip yesterday was a full success - I heard my alarm, I was on time, delivery was on time, boss happy, floho in Frankfurt. So I stopped by at Jana’s place for a coffee, then we went to eat something. Right on time my sister dropped in from Steinheim (just a short ride in the subway), which was really nice because I would not have seen her before heading off to the States next week otherwise. I bought too many books. As always. came home at about midnight, tired but nearly relaxed.

Now you all are up to date - time to get some work done. See ya!

floho goes on business travel!

Yep, that’s true! Tomorrow is my big day. Finally all the work in the internship pays out. Tomorrow, I will be rewarded for working long hours and accepting that chaos is the main strategy of this firm. I will go on business travel. I am to deliver some 130 pages from Hamburg to Frankfurt, 3 hours by train forth, 3 hours back. Train starts at 8am. This is how much I am valued here - “let the intern do it” is just the cheapest method of express delivery. Great.

I think it is time for a good DVD on the road, at least I will have time to sleep, relax and reflect about this fantastic internship ;-)

Less strangled. Evenly bored.

Hi out there!

I changed the flickr-sidebar. Like it? I was a big boy yesterday and managed not to suffocate myself with my shirt. Well… great.

I was late to work today - that seems directly connected to my overall motivation. Adding to it, I realize that my brain is not really working in the morning. I have 3 (!) alarms set every morning. One in my mobile phone, which has this “sleep” function and starts ringing after 10 minutes, then a second one in the mobile, half an hour after the first one, in case I don’t put the first alarm to sleep but cancel it, then my computer that starts playing rock music quite loud inbetween the two mobile phone alarms. Guess what: This morning, I realized I should wake up. I knew I would run late. But I just couldn’t connect that knowledge to my actual action! This is weird! And I was not even overly tired. Waking up refreshed and “awake” has not happenend to me for over 8 years or so, anyway. Life is hard sometimes ;-)

Will catch some dinner now before it starts to rain again, maybe that motivates me. Yeah, right.

bored? tired? neck strangled?

Hey folks,

this is a blue monday, absoluteley. Time until noon passed pleasantly fast - I had some easy work to do, finish a presentation, correct and finalize two small contracts. Now it is not even 16:00, and I feel like I could fall asleep instantly. There is nothing to do right now, exept one task where I just can’t get a hold on. Stupid Excel calculation. I know what I want, but have no clue how to solve it. Must be quite easy, according to a colleague, but I don’t have the nerves asking him again about the very same thing - one week later… adding to my discomfort is the neck of my shirt, which is just waaaay too tight. My fault, I knew it, but there was no other ironed shirt left this morning… it is a 39, although a 40 normally is already quite tight. This one just cuts off my head from the body. But I still try to be hard and not open the button, as this is considered one of the clear “Don’ts” in office life. My guess is that I will care about style and etiquette for some ten more minutes. Better be not stylish than feel like being hung constantly.

What else to report? I already LOVE my new website. This is just exactly what I wanted. I only have to move www.floho.com to the hosting company I am running fhits.de with currently, then I am happy (assuming it costs the same, which I am not too sure of right now). I want to have this site really running under floho.com. Always referring to fhits.de/something just doesn’t do it. Bah.

Well, you see, I got nothing interesting to say right now… but wait till I head of to the states, I am pretty sure then you will be blasted with new impressions, pictures and stories! (Apart from the days were I will blog about nearly the same thing but replace work with the course and assignment with homework)

till next time!
