hey folks, I know you waited some time for that, but here they finally are: The pictures from my trip to Buenos Aires are online now on the Flickr account. Enjoy!

This posting is not likely to make you feel good and might spoil whatever fun you have right now.
When I saw the movie “The girl in the café” tonight, little did I know what it was about. Little did I know what it would make me feel. I am terrible at summing up movies, so I suggest you look it up here or here.
Being confronted with the real problems of our world is shocking. It sets your life in perspective. It freezes my blood. How can it be that every three seconds a child dies of extreme poverty or AIDS? How can that be?
I don’t really have much to say right now except asking you to have a look at the following sites, which are only a starting point in providing you with information about the reality we have to face, the reality we have to act upon.
Global Campaign Against Poverty
CARE
The ONE campaign (USA) – watch the video
Deine Stimme gegen Armut (Germany) – watch the video
Aktionsprogramm 2015 (Germany)
Hey there!
Another successful day in the Hollender Holding
(why a Holding? See here)
OK, it might take me some years to in the end really see that company name on a skyscraper – but the way there is already fun!
Yesterday evening was a blast. As I told you I was invited by Susanne and Danielle to cook and watch a scary movie. Caroline, an exchange student from Norway, joined us, and we had the best time. Susanne and I got the movie “the grudge” (not to be mistaken with “the grinch”) , and when we arrived dinner was already prepared – and taaaasty! We had some good wine with it, and then watched the movie. Florian and three screaming girls on the couch, covering their eyes and ears with pillows
Life could be worse.
Then, later yesterday night, I discovered Flock – which I told you about instantly and thoroughly – I am “still” using it, and apart from one or two crashes it seems to be working really good. I started publishing my bookmarks on del.icio.us, so now you can see what websites I am visiting more or less regularly – maybe there’s something interesting for you in it.
Today I did an astonishing amount of nothing. I did some skips on the jumping rope that I incidentally stole from Tine when I packed my stuff in BA – gosh, that is tough stuff! Can’t believe that boxers do that all day long. And that’s about it right now – life is good, enjoy it!
OK guys, forget about ecto. Ecto is so yesterday. I already kicked it off my harddisk.
What I just came across is really amazing – and I am equally amazed that I had not heard of it before! Chances are that this is a quite brand new thing, so stay calm and let me tell you: It is Flock.
As you might or might not know, I run this blog on a software called WordPress. They offer hosted service (so you don’t have to have your own website to run it) and offer the software for download as well under WordPress.org. This is what I did. Anyway – I just checked their website, just to see if there was an update on the software for me to download, and saw a link to something called “Flock”. I had no idea what that was, but if the maker of a cool software I use promote something else, I might as well have a look.
On the site coming up then it said something about “13 ways to get started using Flock” (see here) and still could not totally make my mind up what Flock actually was. It sounded exciting, though. So I downloaded it.
Came out, it is a new browser, basing on the Mozilla core, so it looks a bit like Firefox, which you hopefully all know by now. But it is not just that. It looks like something that could really be a milestone.
Flock integrates Blogging, Newsfeeds and Bookmark-handling and -sharing, and it does it beautifully, as far as I can say after using it for 10 minutes now. It took me two minutes to connect Flock both to my blog and my del.icio.us - account (which is a service to share your bookmarks with others and access them over the internet from wherever you are). I am actually writing this post from Flock. Then I came across the next cool feature – you can type in your Flickr – username (the service where I have all my pictures up). They then show up in a bar above the blog entry you just write, and easy as pie you can just drag the image you want into your blog entry and it is added automatically, like here:
This is amazing.
Flock is still deep beta, which means it is still under heavy development and might still have some edges and flaws, but it already totally kicks ass.
I suggest you try it yourself: Go to Flock.com and klick on “Developer”, there you can download Flock for Mac, Windows and Linux. Believe me you, it is worth a try.
I’ll keep you updated when I find out more.
UPDATE:
OK, seems that Flock is not that new. Check out the article on Wired – it is from late September, so word has been around for a while. According to Slashdot the software only got available on October 20, so you might consider it quite new, at least to the public, still. Also check out the report from ZDnet Australia from October 21 on Flock.
The developer of Flock seems to be a well known figure in the browser world, he is heavily involved with Mozilla for example. His name is Bart Decrem, and this is his blog.
