Hallelujah, Florian went partying

Unbelievable but true, I went out big time yesterday! Was not my intention though ;-) After class Michael and I planned to discuss the case study we have to work on over the weekend over dinner, and he suggested a nice place with thai food. I’m always game for thai food! So that place was south of Frankfurt - no prob. After first driving to a place that had the same name but was in the wrong town, we found the real deal and had a delicious meal. Then Michael suggested to hit Frankfurt city and go to a bar… well, who am I to resist? So we drove into town and arrived at the scene at midnight. The club that we were headed to bounced us - guess it was either my face or that I wore sneakers, or the Jackass-Shirt I was wearing… major downer. I just lack experience going out in big towns :-D luckily, we managed to get into a nearby club (after queuing for almost an hour). It was crowded, the people were happy and the music did ROCK. In the end, we did not come home until 5am. Although I did try hard, I did not manage to get to class this morning at 8am on time… overslept over an hour. But it was SO WORTH IT!

Now I am thinking about Saturday/Sunday options and add favourite places on Qype: . Cool site, check it out, add your favourite places, restaurants, bars, docs, etc.

elaborate waiting

Today I handed in my seminar thesis in marketing. The topic was customer waiting times - so I basically researched the research on how waiting times affect customer satisfaction, how time is perceived by the customer and how this perception can be altered. Quite interesting, really. Did you know for example that women perceive time to be passing quicker when a commercial is underlined with sad music? I did not anticipate that, and the same was true for some other results.

The coolest thing that happened to me in the course of writing the thesis actually had to do with the research I did. I cam e across a paper from Prof. Larson at MIT. The paper was from 1987, but it was written so witty and with a sense of humor -a great thing to come across after two days of tedious serious research. So I decided to look up the Professor. He is still active at MIT -quite successfully, it seems. You can find his website here. So I wrote him about the fun I had with his paper and thanked him for it, not really expecting a response. Was I wrong! Just some hours later, I had a really cool reply in my inbox telling me that I just made his day :-), and he even attached a paper that built on the 1987 one and gave me an interesting website to further dig into the topic. That really blew my mind - and made my day, too!

7th Semester. Long run.

I am still alive. I am not really blogging. I am not really podcasting. I have not given up on either one of these things, and I am honestly missing it.

Right now university takes most of my time, but I am proud to say that the efforts I put in so far this year have paid off quite well :-) Let’s hope that the marketing seminar thesis, which I just worked on until… well, now, which is 7am - will pay off as well. It better will!

On the flickr page there are pics of the Sylt and the Denmarkt trip, as well as photos from another “Fahrt ins Blaue” (cruise into the blue - or without plan, to say it without that touch of romance that it definitely has).  Stay tuned for more - I’ll come back here eventually. For sure.
